Yet another bug has been discovered for Final Fantasy VII on Switch, one that could seriously ruin your playthrough if you’re unlucky enough to encounter it.
This bug was reported by Gameinformer, and occurs around 3 hours into the game. During a segment where the characters have to “climb up the plate in the Wall Market to get to Shinra HQ”. A little kid is supposed to come along an lead you to a pipe in a cavern, but if the bug triggers neither the kid nor the pipe ever appears. As there is no longer any way for the player to progress, they will be forced to delete their save and try again.
Similar to the previously reported music bug, this is a glitch that was discovered ages ago for a different port of Final Fantasy VII (PC) and hasn’t been corrected for the Switch. With any luck, Square Enix will take notice of the issue this round and put out a patch for it soon.
