Furukawa Shares How Nintendo Tackles Game Addiction

During the Nintendo Q&A session for investors, an investor asked what Nintendo was doing about game addiction as it’s becoming a societal issue in Japan and the government is closing looking into it.

Nintendo President and CEO Shuntaro Furukawa said the issue isn’t with the games, but the excessive amount of time players spend with games. A few measures have been implemented in order to combat game addiction, such as giving parents the ability to monitor and limit play time with the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app.

Going forward, Furukawa wants to improve their measures to combat game addiction, and make them more aware to consumers and parents.
