Previously, we reported that Geodude would be the Pokemon ambassador of Japan’s Iwate Prefecture. Aside from all the funny memes that the Geodude mascot has given us, the rocky Pokemon will also be bringing smiles to more faces starting today (17 June 2019).
Sanriku Railway is now operating a Geodude-themed train along its Iwate coastal lines. The move aims to support recovery efforts in the wake of 2011’s Great East Japan Earthquake. In line with this theme, the Geodude are all linking hands as a symbol of unity.
Check out a video of the train’s inaugural journey below.
According to Sanriku Railway, the train will be running for around one year – so Pokemon fans might not want to plan their trips to Iwate too late!
