Today we have some interesting information about breeding and Gigantamax in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
Please note there are some potential spoilers below:
According to Redditor c_will, one of the leakers for Pokemon Sword and Shield posted a screenshot of a Charmander that was hatched from an egg:
In Pokemon Sword and Shield, you receive a special Charmander with the ability to Gigantamax at some point of the story. Pokemon that could Gigantamax in a current or future evolution have a Gigantamax symbol on the top right corner of the page.
Assuming this Charmander, which lacks a Gigantamax symbol, was bred from the special Charmander that has the ability to Gigantamax, this would mean that Pokemon with the ability to Gigantamax could not pass down their “Gigantamax genes” to their children. That would also mean Gigantamax Pokemon are locked behind raid battles.
