Right before Pokemon Scarlet And Violet‘s Indigo Disk DLC was launched, The Pokemon Company revealed that players would be able to capture several returning Legendary Pokemon from past Pokemon titles through obtaining Snacks from an NPC.
Since then, the Pokemon community has figured out which Legendary Pokemon are available to find, how the snacks feature works, as well as where the Pokemon can be encountered after obtaining their respective snack. Based in this information, you can find a short guide to this feature below.
As detailed in The Pokemon Company’s original announcement, players will need to obtain special snacks from an NPC named Snacksworth to unlock the returning Legendary Pokemon. Each Pokemon has their own unique snack associated with them (e.g. Kubfu Snack).
The Legendary Pokemon snacks that Snacksworth distributes for solo quests and group quests differ between versions, which creates a small degree of version exclusivity. Some Pokemon Scarlet solo quest Legendaries must be unlocked through group quests in Pokemon Violet and vice versa.
A breakdown of this arrangement can be found below, via Serebii:
In order to unlock the Group Quest Legendaries, players will have to join with other players in the Union Circle and complete the Bluberry Quests assigned during multiplayer. This can be achieved by connecting to just one other player. It does not matter which version of the game each player is using, and can be done even with all players using just Scarlet Version and vice versa.
After obtaining the snack for a Legendary Pokemon, it will appear in the main game’s Paldea region at a set location. Players will then need to travel to that location to find it and engage it in battle. These Legendary Pokemon will be shiny locked, and will be set at their default color scheme. Unlike other modern Legendary Pokemon, they will also not have any guaranteed perfect IVs.
A map showing the location of each Legendary can be found below:
