Guide: Tips To Complete Pokemon Scarlet/Violet’s Mightiest Mark Hydreigon Tera Raid
Over the course of this weekend, Pokemon Scarlet And Violet players will be challenging a 7 Star Tera Raid which features a Poison Tera Type Hydreigon with the Mightiest Mark.
This 7 Star Tera Raid gives out a great deal of useful rewards such as Vitamins, Rare Candies, Ability Patches, and most notably, Herba Mystica. This makes being able to complete the raid consistently extremely useful. Below you will find some quick tips and tricks for beating this Raid Battle, as discovered and shared by members of the Pokemon community.
How To Unlock 7-Star Raids
In order to even participate in this raid battle, players will need to progress far enough in the game to qualify for 7-Star raids. This essentially means meeting the following requirements:
Have completed the story and seen the end credits
Have completed all Gym Rematches and the Academy Ace Tournament
Have completed 10 or more raids rated 4* and above.
Once you have completed these steps, the 7-Star Raid will appear both in your overworld as well as on the Tera Raid board.
Hydreigon’s Ability and Moves
The Tera Raid Hydreigon has a Poison Tera-Type, meaning that it does more damage with its Dragon-Type, Dark-Type and Poison-Type moves.
As a Poison Tera-Type, it is weak to Psychic, and Ground type attacks.
Hydreigon’s Ability is Levitate, which makes it immune to Ground-Type attacks.
Hydreigon’s notable moves include the following:
Dark Pulse: Dark-Type special attack
Dragon Pulse: Dragon-Type special attack
Tera Blast: Attack which changes type depending on the user’s Tera-Type, in this case its a Poison-Type attack
Earth Power: Ground-Type special attack
Nasty Plot: Boosts the user’s Special Attack stat by two stages.
Dragon Dance: Boosts the user’s Attack and Speed stats by one stage.
Snarl: Dark-Type special attack which lowers the opponent’s Special Attack stat by two stages.
Hydreigon’s Battle Behaviour
Start ~ Uses Snarl
85% Time / 85% HP ~ Sets up Tera Energy Shield
82% Time ~ Hydreigon Stats and Status Reset
70% Time ~ Uses Nasty Plot
55% Time ~ Nasty Plot
55% HP ~ Player Status and Stats Reset
40% HP ~ Uses Dragon Dance
General Recommendations
Avoid using Pokemon with a weakness to Dragon, Dark, and Ground moves. Fainting in battle reduces the timer, and if it reaches zero before the raid boss is defeated, everyone will fail the raid battle.
Use Level 100 Pokemon to maximize your chance of successfully completing the raid.
Use Vitamins to maximize your Pokemon’s key stats to increase your chance of successfully completing the Raid.
Use Cheers when necessary
Go For It! ~ Boosts Attacking stats.
Hang Tough! ~ Boosts Defensive stats.
Heal Up! ~ Heals HP and cures Status conditions.
Recommended Pokemon
Malamar
Psychic/Dark typing makes resistant to most of Hydreigon’s Attacks.
Ability Contrary reverses all of the user’s stat changes, critical to the Skill Swap strategy used here.
Recommended Stat Spread
Modest Nature.
Max out HP stat with HPUp
Max out Sp.Def stat with Zinc
Recommended Moves:
Skill Swap ~ Switches abilities with the opponent
Rest ~ Recover’s the user’s HP, but puts the user to sleep
Calm Mind ~ Status move that raises the user’s Special Attack and Special Defense stats by one stage.
Stored Power ~ Psychic-Type special attack that deals more damage the more stat boosts the user has
Recommended Items:
Shell Bell ~ Heals HP after dealing damage.
Strategy (Solo Attacker / Support)
Use Skill Swap to give Hydreigon Contrary, which will cause all of its Special Attack boosting moves to reduce them instead, meaning it will deal very little damage with its attacks over time.
Use Rest to recover your HP
Use Heal Up cheer to cure the Sleep status
Use Calm Mind six times to boost your stats and the strength of Stored Power
Use Stored Power continuously until your Tera Orb is charged, then terastalize to a Psychic Type and continue the attack
When Hydreigon resets your stats, use Calm Mind a few times to power up, then continue with Stored Power
