On this day six years ago, Fire Emblem Awakening was released in North America for Nintendo 3DS.
Fire Emblem Awakening is credited as the game which saved the Fire Emblem series. Awakening brought many new features that appealed to newcomers and hardcore fans alike, from the casual mode which disabled permadeath, to the marriage system and partner system.
Thanks to a new and fresh direction, Fire Emblem Awakening succeeded in saving the Fire Emblem series and has spawned many other Fire Emblem titles for Nintendo 3DS. Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the first Fire Emblem title for Switch, is one of them launching this Spring.
