In past Animal Crossing games, it was possible to grow gold roses. That’s also possible in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, though you’ll need a bit of patience.
In order to grow gold roses, you’ll first need to have a 5 star rating in your island evaluation. To achieve a 5 star rating, you must have 10 villagers living on your island, a mix of DIY and non-DIY furniture scattered across your island, a healthy number of flowers and trees, and lots of fences. Keep talking to Isabelle to find out your star rating.
Once you’ve achieved 5 stars, Isabelle will give you a DIY recipe for the golden watering can, which requires 1 gold nugget and 1 watering can to craft. Use this watering can to water black roses (which could be bred from 2 red roses) and you may find gold roses beside them the next day.
