A Bloomberg report has shared details on Nintendo’s preparations for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 launch in the United States.
Currently, Nintendo is manufacturing Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in China and Vietnam, with most of the consoles manufactured in Vietnam going to the US market as a way to avoid heavy tariffs imposed on China.
Based on customs data provided via NBD, Nintendo has shipped 1.108 million Switch 2 consoles to the US as of February 2025. The company shipped 383,000 units in January, and ramped up to 725,200 units in February.
With the 90-day pause of Liberation Day tariffs and a baseline 10% tariff applied to all countries excluding China, analysts expect Nintendo to manufacture and ship as many Switch 2 consoles as they can to the US in the next three months in order to avoid potential increases in tariffs by the US federal government. For the time being, analysts expect Nintendo to eat the cost of the 10% tariff in the US.
