Japan: Nintendo Labo Only Sold 25% Of Its Initial Shipment

After Media Create’s sales data release yesterday, Dengeki Online has revealed their sales data for the Japanese market for the period between April 16 to April 22, 2018.

While Media Create reported there were close to 120,000 units of Nintendo Labo Variety Kit and Robot Kit sold at launch, Dengeki Online provided a lower estimate of 111,000 units, most of which are contributed by the Variety Kit.

What’s more interesting is the sell-through rate of both Nintendo Labo kits at launch. Dengeki Online says that both kits have an average sell through rate of 25%, meaning to say Japanese retailers were shipped at least 440,000 Nintendo Labo products but only 111,000 of them were sold last week.

This may sound worrying but there is a possibility that Nintendo has shipped more units in anticipation of the Golden Week holidays that are starting on April 29. Hopefully demand picks up soon!
