Japan: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Remains Bestselling Game At GEO And Tsutaya In First Week Of 2019

GEO and Tsutaya, both of which are some of the biggest retailers in Japan, have published their top list of bestselling video games for the period of December 31, 2018 to January 6, 2019.

A quick look at both retailers’ rankings show Super Smash Bros. Ultimate remained the No. 1 bestselling game during the New Year holiday. Super Mario Party, which launched last year, climbed up to No. 2.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 came in at No. 3 and No. 4 for the Switch and PS4 versions respectively, in line with retailer projections that the Switch version will ultimately sell as well as the PS4 version.

Based on these rankings, we can expect both Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Super Mario Party to perform strongly on the Media Create charts, which we will be able to view tomorrow.
