Media Create has released their sales data for the Japanese video game market for the period between June 4 and June 10, 2018.
Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido, a puzzle game featuring sushi, launched worldwide for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS last week. It is certainly not doing well in the birthplace of sushi. The Switch version sold merely 5,235 copies (13th place), while the 3DS version moved 2,392 copies (20th place).
The sales numbers certainly do not bode well for Sushi Striker. Even new IP such as ARMS easily moved a few hundred thousand copies at launch in Japan, and evergreen titles like Splatoon 2 (3rd place, 13,432 copies) and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (6th place, 10,063 units) sold way more than Sushi Striker.
On the hardware side of things, 40,834 Nintendo Switch consoles were sold last week, taking 52.1% of market share. Nintendo 3DS sales continue to drop due to lack of big releases.
