If you’ve been thirsting for an actual sequel to Pokemon Snap, your wait will probably last quite a lot longer.
During an interview with GameCentral, Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda addressed numerous questions about the long-running Pokemon franchise – including one question about a possible ‘Pokemon Snap 2’ in the future.
However, Masuda was fairly tepid in his reply – stating that he didn’t want to simply rehash the first game. Instead, he was more keen on doing something innovative with a hypothetical sequel:
You had the Wii U GamePad and now you’ve got Nintendo Labo VR, which has an actual physical camera, why is there not a Pokémon Snap 2?! I’ll pre-order it right now if you agree to make it!
Junichi Masuda: [laughs] All I can say is that I don’t think we can just make the same thing again. So we’d have to come up with a very unique twist on this if we do make another one.
What do you think? Could Pokemon Snap 2 be more innovative with new peripherals like Labo VR? Will we ever get a Pokemon Snap 2? Let us hear your thoughts below!
