Kirby’s Voice Actress Wasn’t Told She Was Voicing Terry Kirby For Smash Bros. Ultimate

Today we have some interesting news coming from the Japanese voice actress for Kirby – Makiko Ohmoto.

In Ohmoto’s latest blog post, she shared her experience for voicing Kirby who has absorbed Terry Bogard in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, who we will call “Terry Kirby” in this article.

According to the voice actress, during the time she was asked to record lines for Terry Kirby, she was kept in the dark about the character she was voicing. Though she was persistent in asking the staff, they only told her it’s “a character from a certain game”.

As she tried her best to memorize the lines, she came to the conclusion that it’s someone from the Fatal Fury series. Here’s how she narrated what happened (translated by NintendoSoup):

Ohmoto: “…is it the Fatal Fury series?”

Staff: “Oh! Looks like it leaked. Yes, it is.”

Ohmoto: “Is it Terry Bogard?”

Staff: “Of course, of course.”

Ohmoto revealed she was very happy upon hearing confirmation that Terry Bogard is coming to Smash Bros. Ultimate. She also revealed that she tried her best to mimic a “native English speaker” while voicing Terry Kirby.
