Pikachu, the electric-type Pokemon that is the face of the Pokemon brand, has undergone many changes in the last two decades.
Twitter user @ikiro_pkmn, a huge fan of Pikachu, created a special infographic showing how Pikachu’s design evolved over the years. The infographic is first divided into two sections – left (blue border) represents how Pikachu was designed by the designers at Creatures Inc, the company responsible for the Pokemon TCG, while the right (red border) shows Game Freak’s depiction of Pikachu over the years:
As you can tell, all of Pikachu’s designs eventually converged to a “digital base model” created in 2004, which forms as the basis for all Pikachu designs up till to this day in both companies.
