Mario Kart World Sells Over 1 Million Units In Japan

It appears that Mario Kart World has become the first Nintendo Switch 2 title to sell over 1 million units in Japan.

According to sales estimates from Famitsu for the week ending June 20, 2025, Mario Kart World’s lifetime units have reached 1,040,044 units, after the game sold 122,578 units last week. These numbers include sales from the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World set, which comes with a full game download of the title.

Aside from Mario Kart World, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch continue to dominate the hardware charts at 140,026 and 12,769 units sold respectively, with Nintendo Switch 2 lifetime sales reaching 1,241,162 units. Even after the launch of Nintendo Switch 2, the Nintendo Switch family of systems continues to outsell the PlayStation 5 and other non-Nintendo hardware on a weekly basis.
