Marvelous Lowers Sales Forecast For An Unannounced Sexy Game Due To Censorship Of Sexual Content
Marvelous revealed they’re having trouble with an unannounced title that they’ve been working on.
During last week’s financial results briefing, Marvelous shared that in the current state of affairs, which is due to video game censorship policies in Japan, this new game that the team has been working on is becoming harder for them to make. In this regard, Marvelous has decided to remove the sexual content altogether.
According to a Marvelous representative:
“In the current state of affairs it is becoming increasingly difficult to make. Getting hard to make games with sexual expressions. Had to trim that aspect from the unannounced title.”
Following the change where such sexual elements were eliminated, Marvelous has settled to lowering the forecast for this incoming title.
On a similar note, just two months ago, Senran Kagura creator Kenichiro Takaki decided to finally leave Marvelous due to these strict regulations regarding sexual depiction. If anything, we could surmise Takaki had been involved on this title before he left.
Here are the tweets from World Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki:
