Masuda: You Can Transfer Pokemon In Pokemon Let’s GO! To Pokemon GO (UPDATE)

UPDATE: There was a mistake in this article. You can only transfer Pokemon to Pokemon Let’s GO, but not the other way round. No word on that yet.

In an interview conducted by GNN Gamer, Junichi Masuda was asked some questions about Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee at a Q&A session after this week’s press conference.

First, Masuda was asked whether Pokemon caught in Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee could be sent to smartphone app Pokemon GO. Masuda said after a certain event takes place in the story, players can send Pokemon to Pokemon GO via a mini game.

When asked whether candy in Pokemon GO could be used in Pokemon Let’s GO and vice versa, Masuda told GNN candy in Pokemon GO could not be used in Pokemon Let’s GO. As for using candy obtained in Pokemon Let’s GO in Pokemon GO, he could not comment on the matter.

As to how catching Pokemon works in Handheld Mode where the Joy-Con are attached to the Nintendo Switch, Masuda said players will have to aim using the Joy-Con’s gyro sensors, and then press a button to throw the Poke Ball. At one point, Game Freak experimented with touch screen controls, but as the Switch couldn’t be held well with one hand, they scrapped the idea.

On the topic of battling other trainers, Masuda said it works the same way as the other core Pokemon RPG. As for Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, and player customization, which will be talked about on a later date. Masuda said he’s aware everyone is concerned about the Traditional IV and EV stats, but could only guarantee “there will be elements that every player can enjoy.”

The way the computer works in Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee has also changed. Masuda said instead of a computer, players can deposit and remove Pokemon from their bag instead, to and from their party of 6 Pokemon.

On the differences between Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee, Masuda mentioned that the storyline and characters are the same in both versions, but the Pokemon that appear are different.

Masuda also confirmed HMs will not be present in Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee. Trainers will be able to ride on large Pokemon around the map. He also revealed the team initially wanted the main characters to ride on small Pokemon, but abandoned the idea as they felt it was too cruel.

Finally, Masuda was asked whether he’d buy Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee, and said he looks forward to playing both versions.
