Mojang, the developers of Minecraft, have added support for dedicated servers on Minecraft Bedrock Edition. Dedicated servers allow Minecraft players to set up their server at home or on the cloud.
Although the Switch is now running Minecraft Bedrock Edition, it does not support dedicated servers. All platforms are able to connect to dedicated servers, with the exception of Nintendo Switch.
However, this does not mean that Minecraft Switch won’t support dedicated servers forever – Mojang says that it’s a “current exception”. In that case, we can expect them to be working on it and see it as a feature in the future.
