During this years Tokyo Game Show, the 2023 Japan Game Awards was held, recognizing excellent games that released over the past fiscal year.
The Grand Award, which is the highest award handed out at the show, went to Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Several games published by Nintendo also received Awards for Excellence, including Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Splatoon 3, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3. In case of Scarlet And Violet, the games also won the Best Sales Award.
Furthermore, Nintendo’s iconic Famicom (NES) also won the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award, which recognizes individual or organizations that have made a great contribution to the growth of the Japanese games industry. The award comes as the Famicom celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
