The official My Nintendo Store website has announced the first details for the fifth Nintendo Switch 2 lottery, scheduled to take place from early July 2025.
The first to fourth lotteries had three important requirements – an active Nintendo Switch Online membership, at least one year of cumulative paid Nintendo Switch Online membership as of February 28, 2025, and at least 50 hours of playtime on Nintendo Switch.
Now, two new requirements have been added in order to give Nintendo fans the best chances of securing a console:
The new requirements have received mixed reactions from Japanese users. While some praise the new requirements as they make things fairer for legitimate users trying to get a Nintendo Switch 2, others have questioned whether Nintendo has truly scaled up production, as deliveries for the fifth lottery will only begin from September 2025, two months after they end.
This is the largest lottery-to-delivery gap we’ve ever seen from a My Nintendo Store Japan lottery, which has raised concerns on Nintendo’s production capacity.
