Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy For Nintendo Switch Bombs In Japan

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy, a compilation of three popular Naruto games, is off to a horrible start in Japan.

According to sales data provided by Famitsu, the Nintendo Switch collection sold 6081 copies in Japan, with a sell through rate between 20% to 40%. This means Japanese retailers were shipped between 15,000 to 30,000 copies of the game. The Switch version sold slightly better than the PS4 version, which debuted at 5000 copies last year.

Now you might be thinking, why is this bad for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy? Last year, Bandai Namco Entertainment, the publisher of the Naruto trilogy, saw great success with late Nintendo Switch ports such as Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and One Piece Pirate Warriors 3. Things were so bad (or rather, profitable) that the games were hard to find and often out of stock.

In light of this, Bandai Namco was probably anticipating the same thing to happen with the Naruto Trilogy, even though all three titles in the trilogy are really, really old. Unfortunately their expectations were not met, and retailers are now left with a large amount of unsold stock.
