In February 2020, Nintendo announced that the Nintendo Switch was being affected by production delays due to the coronavirus outbreak in China.
As Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite shortages are growing more dire all across the world, Japanese media CarrerConnection has asked Nintendo what’s going on as of April 3, 2020. Here’s what they have to say (translated by NintendoSoup):
“The situation has not changed (since the last time).
We would also like to add that the Nintendo Switch Lite uses many of the same components as the Nintendo Switch, which are all produced in China (note: Nintendo did not comment on the Switch Lite in their previous statement in February as Switch Lite was still in stock). Our company is working hard, but delays are still happening because some components are not being delivered on time.”
