Nintendo has grabbed a new patent related to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
The patent is for the “Island Newspaper” mechanic, which was accessible via the Switch Online mobile app. It would give players a rundown of all the special events that were going on in their island, presumably to help with planning gameplay. The example image from the patent mentions holidays, available bugs and fish, turnip prices, and more.
Some believe that Nintendo’s filing of this patent is a hint that a similar feature will be returning in a future Animal Crossing game, which is more than likely being worked on for the Switch 2. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
