Good news for Nintendo fans – Nintendo has confirmed that they currently have no plans to use Game-Key Cards for Nintendo Switch 2 games that they develop.
Currently, most of the physical releases put out by third-party publishers are Game-Key Cards, which has irked many in the collectors community as the game data isn’t stored on the cartridge. The main reason behind this seems to be because there is only one Game Card size and it’s pretty expensive.
Thankfully, it seems that Nintendo will not be putting their first-party releases on Game-Key Cards, as confirmed by a Nintendo UK PR representative to Nintendo Life:
“We currently have no plans to use game-key cards for Nintendo-developed titles”
