Nintendo has announced they will be cancelling their upcoming Nintendo Live Tokyo 2024 event, which was set to occur next January.
According to Nintendo Japan’s official announcement, the company had begun receiving “persistent threats” targeting its employees during the leadup to December’s Splatoon Koshien 2023 finals, which soon spread to targeting the event staff, as well as the audience who would attend the event. Due to safety concerns, the company decided to postpone the event, as well as the Splatoon 3 World Championships 2024.
Due to these same threats, Nintendo has also decided to cancel the Nintendo Live Tokyo 2024 event, as well as postpone all of the tournaments that were planned to be held as part of it. This was done out of concerns for the safety of attendees. More details about the postponed events will be shared at a later time.
