More signs of the Nintendo 3DS’s slow demise are now emerging once again.
Nintendo of America has recently updated its 3DS homepage by removing…most references to the 3DS altogether! If you visit the site now, you won’t find anymore product shots of the 3DS, 3DS XL, New Nintendo 3DS, or New Nintendo 3DS XL at all. Instead, what’s left are images of the New Nintendo 2DS XL and Nintendo 2DS.
Likewise, going to the ‘Compare Systems’ page only displays the New Nintendo 2DS XL and Nintendo 2DS. There’s virtually no trace of the original 3DS family on the site any longer.
With the Nintendo Switch Lite primed to tackle the handheld-only market when it launches on 20 September 2019, Nintendo could be diverting focus away from the 3DS as a whole. In any case, it looks like the beloved dual-screen system is finally approaching its swan-song for real.
Was the 3DS your favorite handheld system? Which one did you own? Let us hear about it in the comments below!
