Back in December 2021, Nintendo opened up an official store in Thailand, which carried all sorts of Nintendo goods for fans living in the country.

Unfortunately, it seems that this official store has since been shut down. Visiting the official Nintendo website for Thailand shows that the official stores on JD and Lazada have both been closed. For the foreseeable future, Nintendo products will only be distributed by their Southeast Asian distributor Maxsoft. These official stores were active for only about a year before the shutdown.

While an official statement about why the stores were shuttered has not been shared, it is likely due in part to JD’s Thailand subsidiary closing its doors. This makes matters slightly more concerning as JD Central, or more specifically its joint-venture WeJoin, was also responsible for running Nintendo’s official repair services centre in Thailand. With JD pulling out of the country, it is not known how this will affect warranty and repairs for Nintendo consoles in Thailand.

At the time of this writing, Nintendo has yet to officially inform customers about the closure of the stores, or provided any clarification of what this could mean for repairs and support for its Thai customers. We will be sure to report back with more information should it become available.
