Nintendo has applied for another trademark in Japan, this time for the brand name of “Pokemon“.
While most may be aware that Pokemon‘s copyright is jointly owned by Nintendo, Gamefreak, and Creatures .Inc, the franchise’s trademark (i.e. its brand name and logo) are solely owned by Nintendo. As to be expected, this new trademark registration covers the Pokemon logo, and its use for “video games, music files, movie films, office supplies, utensils, clothes, playing cards, planning and operation of competitions” and more.
