Feeling festive? You can now enjoy the yuletide cheer with your favorite Splatoon 2 hosts…well, most of them, anyway.
Nintendo has released a new piece of Splatoon 2 artwork for the holiday season which depicts Callie, Marie, and Pearl enjoying their winter. Marina, however, is mysteriously missing from the photo – as noted by Nintendo themselves:
Fans who’ve completed Splatoon and Splatoon 2 might feel uneasy at Marina’s absence here – since it follows after her defeat in the Final Splatfest of Splatoon 2. After all, Callie also disappeared in 2017 after losing the final splatfest of the first Splatoon – leaving Marie all alone at the start of Splatoon 2.
Could this all be some sort of hint for the story of the next series entry or expansion? Or could this just be a red herring to fool fans? Feel free to discuss your thoughts in the comments below!
[UPDATE: It seems that Nintendo were really just messing around with fans, after all. Nintendo of Japan has released another piece of art that reveals Marina taking the photo for the other three. Take a look below!]
