“Unlike back then, the eShop now has lots of videos that are showcasing the games. We didn’t want to intrude on that, so we don’t have music there.”
Nintendo fans have been asking Nintendo to add background music to the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, similar to how it was done on past Nintendo consoles.
Sad to say, background music won’t be returning to the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch 2, as the eShop now showcases “lots of videos” from various games.
Here’s what Nintendo Switch 2 producer Kouichi Kawamoto says in full:
“Unlike back then, the eShop now has lots of videos that are showcasing the games. We didn’t want to intrude on that, so we don’t have music there.”
Kawamoto also said that the development team focused on improving the performance of the eShop, ensuring that pages load smoothly and scrolling of the game list doesn’t stall.
