This year has been a big year for the homebrew and emulation community working on Nintendo Switch. Today we have an interesting update from the people working on Yuzu.
Just a few months ago, Yuzu, an emulator for Nintendo Switch games, was barely able to run or boot up titles such as Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. But in today’s progress report, we can now see that the games are starting to have their textures and graphics appear correctly in the emulator.
In some cases, games such as Puyo Puyo Tetris could run at full speed. The graphics and textures in One Piece: Unlimited World Red and Puyo Puyo Tetris are rendering correctly too.
Although development is progressing rapidly, it will still take many years for Nintendo Switch emulation to become perfect, perhaps even after the Switch successor arrives. We don’t believe it will pose a threat to Nintendo in the near future.
