Today we have a very interesting observation to share with you about the Famitsu sales rankings for February 10 to February 16, 2020.
For the last few months, the Nintendo Switch has consistently outsold the Nintendo Switch Lite every single week in Japan, with the exception of the week the Switch Lite launched.
This has changed last week, as the Nintendo Switch sold way less than the Nintendo Switch Lite in a week. Only 16,869 Nintendo Switch consoles were sold last week, as compared to 63,443 Nintendo Switch Lite systems.
The reason for this is because of the ongoing Wuhan coronavirus outbreak affecting the supply chain, as well as the high number of Japanese scalpers trying to cash in on the Nintendo Switch. Unlike the Switch, the Switch Lite continues to be readily available at most locations in Japan.
