Nintendo Switch To Receive More “Handheld Series” Games Later This Year

As we’ve reported earlier this week, Nintendo 3DS sales have drastically tanked in the last fiscal year, and yet it seems Nintendo is insistent on supporting it in 2019.

Thus during the investors’ Q&A Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa was asked why isn’t there any concrete plans for Nintendo 3DS in this fiscal year as compared to the previous fiscal year ending March 31, 2019, even though the 3DS is still being supported.

Furukawa says that the Nintendo 3DS is an entry-level model with “stable demand” from consumers, so there is no reason to discontinue it at this time. He also added that later this year, Nintendo will bring more games that appeared on portable/handheld consoles in the past to Nintendo Switch. Consumers who are interested in these games, whether they have a 3DS or not, will eventually make the switch to Switch to play them.
