The Nintendo Switch is poised to overtake Wii sales over the first 10 months of sales, says NPD industry analyst Mat Piscatella.
According to Piscatella, although the Nintendo Switch is completely different from the Wii in terms of demographics, usage basis, and the product itself (Switch is a hybrid console while Wii isn’t), the analyst expects a single household to own multiple Switch consoles similar to how multiple family members have their own Nintendo 3DS. As such he expects the Switch to outpace the Wii by 20% in the first 10 months of sales.
Piscatella also predicts that the Switch will take 40% share of the hardware market in 2018 if the brand new Pokemon RPG releases next year. Let’s hope it does!
