Nintendo has announced they will be updating the domain name of their official Japanese website.
Starting from February 26th 2024, the domain name for Nintendo’s Japanese website will be changed from “nintendo.co.jp” to “nintendo.com/jp”. This will bring the site up to standard with Nintendo’s other official pages managed by Nintendo Of America and Southeast Asia. Fans who have the Japanese pages already bookmarked will not need to update them, as the old domain will automatically redirect visitors to the new one.
Nintendo’s announcement provides little information about why this change was made, only stating that it is due to “server environment improvements”. They also mention that not all pages will be affected, although they did not specify which will be kept under the old domain.
