Nvidia Shield’s Wii Games Aren’t Native Ports
UPDATE: Nvidia confirms the listing is a mistake.
Yesterday we reported Nintendo bringing Wii and GameCube games to the Chinese market on Nvidia Shield.
More details have emerged from the deal and apparently the Wii and GameCube games aren’t native Tegra ports.
According to AndroidPolice, the official Nvidia Shield website in China lists GeForce Now as the platform for the Wii games, meaning to say they are streamed from a server to your device while you’re playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii or The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
This could mean that the Nvidia Shield isn’t powerful enough to handle native Wii and GameCube ports by its own. As the Switch uses the same technology as the Shield, this implication may affect the chances of seeing Wii/GameCube VC on the Switch.
