Enjoyed last year’s release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 on Switch? Well, unfortunately it looks like fans will have to wait quite a bit longer before getting anymore Tony Hawk remasters to play on the move.
While some fans may have been hoping to see a potential “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4” remastered release for modern gaming systems, Tony Hawk himself has confirmed that such a project will likely not be happening anytime soon. During a recent Twitch stream, Hawk shared that Blizzard Entertainment’s absorption of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 developer Vicarious Visions basically crushed such plans:
“…That was the plan. Even up until the release date of this [Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2], we were going 3 and 4. And then Vicarious got kind of absorbed, and then they were looking for other developers, and then it was over.”
“They were actually—I mean, the truth of it is they were trying to find someone to do 3 and 4, but they just didn’t trust anyone the way that they did Vicarious. So they took other pitches from other studios. Like what would you do with the [Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater] title? And they didn’t like anything they heard. And then that was it.
“I wish there was someway to bring it back. I mean, who knows? Maybe when all the dust settles, we’ll figure it out.”
We’ll report back if the situation changes in the future. Stay tuned.
