The Pokemon Company has announced a new form of competitive Pokemon batting for Japan.
Dubbed the Pokemon Battle Master Competition, this new event will test a player’s skill in both the Pokemon video games as well as the trading card game. For this year’s competition, the game being used will be Pokemon Sword And Shield, and players will have to complete the following in order to qualify:
- For the videogames, players will have to earn points through an online competition held in June for Pokemon Sword And Shield. The format will be single battle, and players will need a Pokemon HOME account linked to a Nintendo account to enter.
- For the TCG, players will have to earn points from April through June through the City League and Trainers League events throughout Japan. The more points you obtain during this.
- After completing both, players will have to submit a form totalling all their points from both the game and TCG battles to see if they qualify for the finals.
At the time of this writing, further details about the finals have yet to be shared. Stay tuned for more info as it comes.
