Pokemon GO Community Day Kicks Off Next Week

Niantic has revealed a new monthly event called Pokemon GO Community Day. The first Community Day is scheduled to start on January 20, 2018.

Pokemon GO Community Day is touted as an opportunity for trainers to meet up at their local parks with friends and the Pokemon GO community. Once a month on Pokemon GO Community Day, a special Pokemon which knows an exclusive move will appear frequently around the world for a couple of hours.

The first Pokemon for this purpose is Pikachu. Bonuses such as increased XP or Stardust, and Lure Modules will be active for 3 hours during the event.

On January 20, a special Pikachu which knows the exclusive event move Surf will be out in the wild, and double XP can be earned during event hours. Here are the event hours for each region:

The Asia-Pacific region: January 20, 2018, from 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. JST (GMT +9)
Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India: January 20, 2018, from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. UTC (GMT +0)
The Americas and Greenland: January 20, 2018, from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. PST (GMT -8)
