Pokemon Sword And Shield Dominate UK Sales Charts Over Opening Weekend

The GFK has published their list of bestselling games in the UK for the week ending in November 16, giving us our first sales data for Pokemon Sword And Shield.

According to their data, Pokemon Sword And Shield have had a very strong opening weekend in the UK, occupying multiple spots in the Top 10 sales charts for last week. Pokemon Sword alone is also reportedly the biggest exclusive game of the year in the UK. This is an incredible achievement considering its only been three days since the games came out, and they have been the subject of controversy among fans.

• Pokemon Sword And Shield occupy 1st, 3rd, and 7th place in the weekly sales charts.

• Pokemon Sword is currently the biggest exclusive game of the year in the UK.
• The game’s are the third best physical release of the year in the UK, only behind FIFA 20 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
• The games have achieved the second best release of the Pokémon franchise in UK history. The only Pokémon games that have had a better premiere are Pokémon Sun and Moon for 3DS, with sales 39% higher.
• The games have sold 33% more units than Black and White for DS and 53% more units more than Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee.
