As we’ve reported previously, Pokemon Sword/Shield’s art director James Turner continues to be a fairly active illustrator even when he isn’t directly working on the Pokemon series itself. From drawing Kirby as an office manager to creating a short film about living traffic cones, he certainly has a knack for dabbling in other franchises – and today is no exception!
During the weekend, Turner shared more of his personal doodles – which featured none other than Nintendo’s Super Mario! Rather than smacking around Bowser’s minions and gallivanting across space, however, this version of Mario harkens back to his simpler days as a mere plumber…who might have to deal with a problem or two in his pipes.
Check it out below:
It’s not clear if Turner will be turning this into some sort of small series (especially with Nintendo still celebrating Super Mario Bros.’ 35th anniversary), but we’d certainly would love to see more of Mario in this rustic setting!
What do you think? Would you like to see more of Mario actually being a plumber in his games? Feel free to share below!
