Pokemon Unite Reveals License Journey Feature To Replace Aeos Coins

The Pokemon Company has announced a major change to Pokemon Unite.

The game will soon be introducing a new way for players to earn Unite Licenses, which unlock playable Pokemon for the player to use. This new feature is called License Journeys, and will allow players to obtain new Licenses by accumulating License Points through gameplay. Players will be able to choose which Pokemon Licenses to unlock, ranging from among five specific Pokemon to all available Pokemon.

Notably, this change will lead into the discontinuation of Aeos Coins as an in-game currency. From December 4th 2025, players will no longer be able to earn any new Aeos Coins or use them to buy Unite Licenses. Players who have not used up their Aeos Coins by then will be given the option to exchange them for License points or various other items at a new Aeos Coin Exchange shop. However, this exchange shop and Aeos coins themselves will eventually be fully phased out by May 2026.
