PSA: Ensure Your Pokemon Scarlet/Violet Game Is Updated Before Challenging Walking Wake/Iron Leaves

Earlier this week, The Pokemon Company launched a new special Tera Raid Battle for Pokemon Scarlet And Violet, which allows players to challenge and capture two new Paradox Pokemon Walking Wake and Iron Leaves.

Following the launch of the raid battle, players have discovered a potentially game-breaking issue that can occur if you try to challenge the raid without ensuring your game is updated to the latest version.

If you were to somehow gain access to the raid while on an older version of the game, you will encounter a “Bad Egg” instead of either of the Paradox Pokemon. If you were to capture this Bad Egg, it will become permanently stuck in your game, and will prevent you from trying to catch your respective Paradox Pokemon even if you update the game afterwards.

Although this will likely be a rare occurence since it is not possible to access the raid online without updating the game, the Pokemon Company has acknowledged the existence of this error, and is investigating a fix for the unlucky players who are affected. 【Important Notices】 We have confirmed an issue where if you challenge the Terra Raid Battle of Unerumimo or Tetsunoisaha without downloading the update data for “Pokémon Scarlet Violet” (Ver.1.2. 0) , you will be able to challenge Eggs instead of Pokémon. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
