Rollercoaster Tycoon Will Come To The Switch Regardless Of Crowdsourcing Results

Previously we have reported that Atari has setup a fundraising program to get Rollercoaster Tycoon onto the Switch.

However, eagled-eye GoNintendo viewer Awesomeplatterfun has spotted a line in Atari’s FAQ section stating that the game is confirmed for the Nintendo Switch, with or without your investment.

Why did Atari Game Partners decide to ask people on the internet for money instead of publishing as it has in the past? Does it not have the capital to front the development and distribution costs?

As a publisher, Atari has started the development of the game and will release it no matter what the outcome of the campaign, because it has the resources to do it. This is clearly set forth on Page 14 of the Offering Details http://bit.ly/2Bs81oi: “For the further avoidance of doubt, if we do not raise 100% of the funds, our majority stockholder intends to provide additional funding or credit in exchange for the balance of the Net Receipts not distributed to the Investors.”

Well, since Atari has the resources to finish the game, it would seem to suggest that Atari might be using the campaign as an interest check than a full fledge crowdfunding. Either that or they have a feeling that the game is not going to do well and they just want to share the burden. In any case, we should be seeing Rollercoaster Tycoon for Switch.
