As reported previously, Sonic the Hedgehog‘s second live-action movie is currently on track to premiere in April 2022. While we don’t have concrete details about its story, it looks like the blue blur himself might be seeing red in this sequel!
(Warning: mild spoilers for the first Sonic the Hedgehog film ahead.)
According to an exclusive insider update from The illuminerdi, Knuckles the Echidna will apparently play a role in the new film – with his personality mostly following how he’s depicted in the Sonic videogames. This won’t just be some sort of loose nod either apparently, if this information is to be believed:
“Knuckles the Red Echidna, will indeed have a role in the second movie. Many assumed that Knuckles may have a simple cameo appearance, similar to Tails in the original. However, our sources have indicated that he will have a relevant role in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, that will be larger than a cameo.”
“…his personality was described to us as serious in nature, but still gullible at times.”
Additionally, the rumored information cites that the movie will features a new supporting character named Randall – who will apparently not be interacting with Sonic himself. Interestingly, the movie’s studio is apparently looking for an A-list actor such as Samuel L. Jackson or Chris Rock to play this role.
As with all rumored information, we urge readers to take these details with a grain of skepticism, at least until more details are revealed by Paramount and the movie’s producers. We’ll report back as we hear more in the future.
