Later this year, the Super Mario Bros. will be celebrating their 40th anniversary, and Nintendo is no doubt cooking up some major plans to commemorate the milestone.
According to John Skinny, a leaker who previously shared accurate information about the Switch 2 before launch, one of these plans is a New Super Mario Bros. collection for the Switch. Skinny claimed to have learned this information via ” internal scheduling docs and partial localization assets via a contractor QA team (he) worked with before”, and that the collection includes the following games:
- New Super Mario Bros. (DS)
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii
- New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS)
If Skinny’s claims are accurate, this would be similar to Super Mario 3D All-Stars, a collection of 3D Mario games Nintendo released for the franchise’s 35th Anniversary. That collection attracted a great deal of controversy for being a limited release, and we can only hope that history won’t repeat itself here.
