For the past several weeks, fans have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of Nintendo’s yearly June Nintendo Direct, where the company would typically share reveals and updates for games coming later in the year or early in the next.

Although Nintendo themselves have been relatively quiet, it seems that the date of their showcase may have been accidentally revealed by a member of the industry. This little tidbit comes via game writer and former gaming journalist Alanah Pearce, who claimed that this year’s June Direct will be airing on June 29th 2022 during a stream on her Twitch channel.

Pearce: “Heard it here first. Let me check, I have it written down. 29th, yeah. June 29th. Nintendo Direct.”

That said, Pearce goes on to state that she did not get this date directly from Nintendo, and she will not be sharing any information that is planned for the direct. Although she did not explicitly state who her source is, the information presumably comes from someone inside the industry privy to the scheduling of such presentations,

“It’s not technically a leak since Nintendo didn’t tell me, which is how I make that call, But it’s also I’m not leaking anything that’s in it.”

All in all, we would caution our readers to take this with a grain of salt until Nintendo officially announces a Nintendo Direct. Stay tuned for more details as they come.
