Back in 1992, Nintendo released the Super NES Mouse, a accessory that packaged with Mario Paint that allowed players to control games with a mouse and mousepad.
Now, decades later, it seems Nintendo might be planning a comeback for the peripheral. According to dataminer Luigiblood, Nintendo has been building support into the Switch Online service for the SNES Mouse. The latest update includes a major rework for the functionality, adding support for two controller ports, replacement of inputs, and a new “behavior mode”.
While Switch Online has always included support for the SNES Mouse, this major rework hints that Nintendo actually intends to do something with the functionality soon. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
