Switch Online NES And SNES Games Will No Longer Be Released On A Regular Monthly Basis

Earlier, Nintendo finally added SNES games to its growing library of retro titles that Switch Online subscribers can access. Some might be excited at the prospect of SNES games joining the roster monthly, much like the NES games before them. However, it looks like this will sadly not be the case.

According to Nintendo of Japan’s website, a new paragraph notes that new NES and SNES titles will release irregularly from now on – instead of monthly, as usual. When Vooks reached out to Nintendo for further comment, all that Nintendo commented was as follows:

“[more games] will be added after launch, but those releases will not adhere to a regular schedule”

How irregular these updates are remains to be seen, but it could easily be months before we hear about any new SNES games. Let’s just hope that Nintendo has something in the pipeline that’s worth waiting for!
